{"id":70,"date":"2009-06-18T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-18T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kristau.net\/blog\/?p=70"},"modified":"2009-06-18T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-18T12:00:00","slug":"june-2009-cialug-meeting-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kristau.net\/blog\/70\/","title":{"rendered":"June 2009 CIALUG Meeting Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I didn\u2019t take any notes during the meeting itself, so these are the high points as my memory serves:<\/p>\n<p>The focus of this meeting was Security, and we didn\u2019t stray too far off that core topic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.infragard.net\">InfraGard<\/a> is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the interesting security tools or concepts discussed at this meeting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Netcat\">netcat<\/a> is literally <span class=\"caps\">THE<\/span> Swiss Army Knife of IP tools.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Port_knocking\">port knocking<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webknocking.de\/semaphor.php?item=webknocking_en\">webknocking<\/a> involves sending patterns of traffic to a server to trigger it opening ports and services to your IP address.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Metasploit_Project\">MetaSploit Framework<\/a> automates the exploitation of the latest vulnerabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After the meeting, a large group of us walked over to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raccoonbrew.com\/\">Raccoon River Brewery<\/a> for dinner, drinks and discussion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I didn\u2019t take any notes during the meeting itself, so these are the high points as my memory serves: The focus of this meeting was Security, and we didn\u2019t stray too far off that core topic.
